KANANEN lemon color AARIKKA

The festive table is decorated with the proud Kukkonen rooster. Aarikka’s ornaments represent design that lasts. Designed by Marianne Siponmaa.

Each item in the Aarikka  collection is a unique item handmade in Finland from Finnish materials. The wood is Finnish mapple that, thanks to Aarikka´s own dyeing method, acquires a beautiful, translucent sheen. The Aarikka range represents lasting beauty with a form language and quality that last from year to year.

Aarikka Oy is a Finnish family business specializing in jewelry and decorative products, the main material of which is wood. The company was founded in 1954 by young arts and crafts students Kaija Aarikka and Erkki Ruokonen, when there was a demand for wooden buttons. The first buttons were carved by hand in exotic woods.

The product range soon expanded to wooden jewelry made from Finnish species, for which a special dyeing method was developed. The first Aarikka store was opened in Helsinki's old shopping street in 1960. The Fredrikinkatu store specialized in evolving wooden toys, production of which began in 1968. Toys, including Pujo, have won awards in several international competitions in the field.

In its most extensive form, Aarika had a few dozen of its own stores in the country and abroad. With the recession of the 1990s, some of them were given to franchisees.

Aarika's most famous product is Pässi, designed by Kaija Aarika from wooden logs. The Designer spent her childhood on the farm surrounded by animals. She loved them so much that in 1973, she created her first sculpture "PASSI, THE RAM", Sheep ram made, at the time, of small pine cones, which quickly became a popular symbol of Finland, of the will that inhabits its inhabitants.

The most popular Aarikka products are candlesticks, board games and aluminum mobiles. In addition to wood, jewelry is always silver. Christmas decorations and nativity scenes are top sellers throughout the year.

In line with the original operational model, Aarikka still employs Finnish workers in addition to its own employees. The degree of domesticity of the products is so high that the company is allowed to use the key label of the Finnish LaborAssociation.

As an official reseller of Aarikka in France, we can order all the items available on their general website aarikka.fi...
